According to current Irish regulations (S.I. No 328 of 2005 and S.I. No. 299 of 2007), every employer is obliged to periodically carry out Portable Appliance Testing on electrical appliances at the workplace to determine if the equipment is in safe condition to use by employees, customers or public who may come into contact with those appliances. This is to ensure the safety and welfare of both employees and customers.
The obligation rests solely with the employer, which means that employers are held 100% responsible for the safe maintenance of portable appliances (anything with a plug).
Seolta Management Services will set up a schedule for all appliances which require Portable Appliance Testing and provide a detailed report regarding the condition of each appliance.
